300 smuggled turtles seized, four arrested in Savar

Police yesterday recovered 300 smuggled turtles of a rare spice from a microbus on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Dairy Gate area of Savar, outside the capital, and arrested four people.

The arrestees -- Rekha Bishwas and Nur Mohammad, both in their 40s, Md Hafizur Rahman, 30, and Rony Miah, 25, -- and the turtles, which have been smuggled from India, were handed over to Ashulia police. A case was filed.
