3 factory workers killed in Gazipur
Three factory workers, one of garments and two others of spinning and knit, were killed in three separate incidents in Gazipur city and Kaliakoir upazila of the district yesterday.
Mouchak police camp in-charge Saiful Alam said Mahmuda Akter, 18, wife of Apel Miah, worked at Hanif Spinning Factory as a machine operator.
She used to live at a rented house in Rakhaliachala area of Kaliakoir.
Mahmuda was strangled as her scarf got entangled with a machine while she was working.
Later, she was rushed to Safipur General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
In another incident, Mamunur Rashid, 31, son of Makbul Hossain of Shaktipur in Gobindaganj of Gaibandha, was killed as a truck knocked down his bicycle on Chandra Palli-Apex road in Dighipar area of Kaliakoir upazila.
Quoting locals, Kaliakoir Police Station Sub-inspector Mukti Mahmud said a speeding truck hit the bicycle of Mamunur Rashid, a worker of Fareast Knit & Dyeing Limited, in the area while he was returning from his workplace around 3:00am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, police recovered the body of Hasina Akter, 32, a resident of Enayetpur village in Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh, from a paddy field in Teknagpara of the city.
Sub-inspector Ruhul Amin of Joydebpur Police Station said local people spotted the body of Hasina, a worker of a readymade garment factory, lying in the field at Barboika.
The bodies were sent to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
