211 tin-shed shops of DNCC market completely razed in fire

Around 211 tin-shed business establishments were complete razed in the fire that ripped through the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) kitchen market in Gulshan-1 this morning.

While talking to The Daily Star, DNCC market President Din Mohammad confirmed the number of the damaged shops and said all the stores damaged in the fire were on the ground floor of the market premises.

Around 68 stores were left undamaged as they were situated a little far away from the spot.

The fire originated at the tin-shed kitchen market around 5:45am and later spread to the third floor of the adjacent Gulshan market, said Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station.

The fire doused completely around 10:30am. No casualties were reported in the fire.
