200kg of piranha, 500kg of shrimps seized at Dhaka market

A mobile court yesterday seized 200kg of banned piranha and 500kg of prawns and lobsters injected with harmful substance at the capital's Karwan Bazar.

It also sentenced Md Mahbub, who had the piranha, to one month's imprisonment and fined four fish traders a total of Tk 120,000.      

Rapid Action Battalion Executive Magistrate Helal Uddin led the court.

Rab officials said a thick liquid substance was injected into the shrimps to make them weigh heavier.
