2 to die for killing Faridpur couple

A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced two persons to death and another to life term imprisonment for killing a couple in Faridpur in 2013.

The condemned are Mohammad Sujon Bepari and Mohammad Nazrul Islam while the lifer is Mir Mohammad Tanvir Rahman, a nephew of victim Mir Shamsul Haque. The court also fined the lifer Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer one more year in jail.

According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked Mir Shamsul Haque, 75, and his wife Nargis Nahar Begum, 65, to death about 7:00am in Kotwali area on October 25, 2013 over a land dispute.
