10 Ctg ships,3 restaurants fined for irregularities

Two mobile courts in Chittagong fined 10 ships and three restaurants and sentenced two people for various irregularities yesterday.

A court of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) fined 10 ships at Karnaphuli Channel Tk 3.3 lakh for various irregularities including overloading goods, employing drivers and masters without proper certificates and not keeping safety equipments.

The ships are: FV SRL, FV Star-1, FV Shah Badar-1, MV Tiger of East Bengal-5, MV Sadia and Amira, MV Westin, MV Hasan, OT Hazrat Badar Shah, MV Nouroz and FV Sagar-1.

Meanwhile, Suman Kanti Dutta and Md Ibrahim were sentenced to six months and 15 days for illegally entering the jetty area and stealing valuables.

Another court of the Chittagong district administration fined three restaurants in Chawkbazar area Tk 80,000 for not maintaining hygiene, using adulterated ingredients and many more irregularities.

The restaurants are: Sadia's Kitchens, Hotel Chak Malancha and Hotel Shah Tyebia.
