Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed today claimed that the Narayanganj City Corporation election was held in a free, fair and credible manner.

“I thank all people including law enforcers and media men who helped to hold the election in a fair and credible manner,” Rakibuddin Ahmed said at a press conference at his election commission secretariat in Dhaka.

He said around 9500 law enforcers have been deployed in the electoral area to avoid any untoward incident while nine high officials of the commission have also been deployed to oversee the election.

Thanking media and the election observers, he said they have played a vital role to make the election credible and impartial.

The candidates have also extended their cooperation to ensure impartiality of the election, he added.

The law enforcers will remain active in the electoral area until Friday to maintain law and order, he further said.

Responding to a query, the CEC said Narayanganj is an easily accessible place and the electoral area is not very big and thus the law and order situation was under control.

On the other hand, an acceptable and credible election is possible to be held if all political parties extend their helping hands, he added.
