Iranian aid arrives
An Iranian cargo flight carrying 29.918 metric tonnes of relief materials for Rohingya refugees landed at the Chittagong airport yesterday afternoon, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
H Nematullah Zadeh, first counsellor and deputy head of mission at the Iranian embassy, handed over the aid to the local administration.
Meanwhile, Baridhara Society has donated Tk 11.8 lakh for installing 10 tube-wells in the extended part of Kutupalong settlement of Cox's Bazar, said a press release.
Action Against Hunger will implement the installation work. A deal was signed between M Ehsanul Hoque, president of the society, and Nipin Gangadharan, country director of Action Against Hunger, on Tuesday. Monzur Uddin Ahmed, Dr Nayma Reja Chowdhury, and Hasina Bari Chowdhury of the Baridhara Society were also present.
