2 students found dead at Farmgate residential hotel

Two students were found dead at a residential hotel in Dhaka’s Farmgate area this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Aminul Islam Sajal, 21, a student of Tejgaon College, and Mariam Akter Jerin, 20, a student of a private university, police said.

The staffer of the Hotel Samrat informed police in the afternoon as the two boarders were not responding from inside the room no. 808 since 10:00am.

Police broke open the door and found the boy lying on the bed while the girl on the floor, said Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station.

It cannot be stated now how they died, the OC said, adding, that some medicine strips were found inside the room.

Rostom Ali, a staffer of the hotel, told The Daily Star the duo booked the room on Monday afternoon claiming they were married. “We repeatedly knocked the door to know about their check-out time, but they did not respond,” he said.  

Police picked up three staffers for interrogation, their colleagues claimed.

The bodies were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy.
