Sabbir Ahmed new ICAB president

Sabbir Ahmed, a partner at Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co, has been elected president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) for a one-year term from July 2026 to June 2027.

He has nearly three decades of experience, including over 12 years with a Big Four accounting firm across Australia, Indonesia, Germany, Singapore, the UAE, and the UK.

Neaz Mohammed, Ala Uddin, Asifur Rahman, and Mohammad Redwanur Rahman have also been elected vice-presidents of the institute. The newly elected office-bearers assumed their responsibilities on July 1, 2026, according to a press release.

Neaz, a senior partner at Howladar Yunus & Co, a member firm of Grant Thornton International, has over 25 years of experience in audit, assurance, and business advisory.

Ala Uddin, deputy managing director and chief financial officer of MetLife Bangladesh, has over 22 years of finance leadership experience, including at Robi Axiata, Novartis Bangladesh, Grameenphone, and British American Tobacco Bangladesh. Asifur Rahman, a partner at Hussain Farhad & Co, Chartered Accountants, has over 25 years of experience in audit and finance.

Redwanur Rahman, a senior partner at Redwan Rahman & Co, Chartered Accountants, previously held senior finance and audit roles at MetLife Bangladesh, LankaBangla Investments, Union Capital, and KPMG Bangladesh.
