Prime Bank spearheads agri loan campaign in Madhabpur
Prime Bank PLC recently organised an upazila-based agricultural credit campaign, discussion meeting, and open loan distribution programme in Madhabpur, Habiganj aimed at bringing banking services to the doorsteps of farmers and increasing agricultural production.
Representatives from 15 scheduled banks operating in Madhabpur upazila took part in the programme. Prime Bank PLC served as the lead bank for the event, which was held under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank’s Sylhet office.
Md Javed Ahmed, additional director of Bangladesh Bank, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest, according to a press release. He distributed agricultural loan cheques among 50 farmers of the upazila.
Md Mehedi Hasan, upazila nirbahi officer of Madhabpur, presided over the event, while Syed Sajjad Haider Chowdhury, deputy managing director of Prime Bank PLC, attended as the special guest.
They highlighted the important role of agricultural loans in increasing food production, improving farmers’ livelihoods, and supporting the country’s economy.
They also assured farmers of continued banking support and technical assistance to help expand their agricultural activities.
Md Humayun Kabir, head of the Sylhet region at Prime Bank PLC, and Shahana Parveen, head of agro business, along with branch managers and officials from the participating scheduled banks, as well as the upazila agriculture, fisheries, and livestock officers of Madhabpur, also took part in the event.
