NCC Bank celebrates 33rd anniversary

NCC Bank PLC has celebrated its 33rd founding anniversary with a commitment to sustainable growth, customer trust, innovation, and a transition toward shariah-based banking.

Md Nurun Newaz Salim, chairman of the bank, inaugurated the celebratory programme at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.

At the event, Salim said, “Over the past 33 years, NCC Bank has earned customer trust through good governance and strong leadership, making it one of the most reliable financial institutions in the country,” he said.

He added that the bank aims to strengthen inclusive and shariah-based services. At present, it operates four full-fledged Islamic branches and 32 Islamic banking windows across the country.

M Shamsul Arefin, managing director of the bank, presided over a discussion meeting and highlighted the bank’s progress and future plans.

He said NCC Bank has transformed into a technology-driven institution through improved governance and risk management.

He noted that the bank is focusing on digital transformation, customer-centric services and sustainable banking alongside steady deposit and loan growth.

Arefin also said the bank plans to gradually shift to fully shariah-based banking over the next four years, subject to regulatory approval. Efforts are underway to expand AI-based personalised banking, Bangla QR payments, virtual cards and online payment gateways.

On the occasion, the bank announced several corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, focusing on income-generating support for people affected by environmental challenges.

Abdus Salam, vice-chairman of the bank; Khairul Alam Chaklader, chairman of the executive committee; Tanzina Ali, former vice-chairman; Syed Asif Nizamuddin and Morshedul Alam Chaklader, directors, attended the event.

M Khurshed Alam, additional managing director; Md Zakir Anam, Mohammed Mizanur Rahman and Md Habibur Rahman, deputy managing directors; along with heads of departments at the head office and branch managers across the country, also joined virtually.
