Humayun Kabir becomes president of SAFA

Mohammed Humayun Kabir, former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh, has been appointed president of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for a one-year term (2026).

With over 45 years of professional experience, Kabir worked at a chartered accountancy (CA) firm and at a financial institution.

According to a press release, he was involved with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as a facilitator of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

Kabir was also associated with the Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry as a director and with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries as a panel adviser.

He served as chairman or convener of various committees and sub-committees for 28 years.

Probin Kumar Jha, former vice-president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, has also been appointed vice-president of SAFA.

SAFA, comprising 11 chartered accountant (CA) and cost and management accountant (CMA) professional institutes, is a network partner of the International Federation of Accountants and has more than 500,000 members affiliated with its 11 accountancy bodies in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
