BRAC Bank honoured with gold at ICSB National Award
BRAC Bank PLC won the gold award at the "12th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence 2024" in the General Banking category, conferred by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB).
Lutfey Siddiqi, special envoy on international affairs to the chief adviser, handed over the award to Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, company secretary of BRAC Bank PLC, and Mohammad Abdul Ohab Miah, financial controller, at the award-giving ceremony held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Monday, according to a press release.
Sk Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Commerce, attended the programme as the chief guest.
On receiving the top Corporate Governance Excellence Award, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said: "This honour underscores our belief that long-term success is built on governance, integrity, and transparency. As we continue to grow, BRAC Bank remains committed to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance while advancing values-based banking for a more resilient financial sector."
The ICSB Award is bestowed in recognition of organisations that demonstrate exemplary corporate governance practices.
BRAC Bank's distinction is underpinned by strong performance indicators, including the highest market capitalisation among local banks, the largest share of international institutional investors, and the country's highest credit rating.
As a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV), BRAC Bank remains firmly committed to values-based banking and to advancing sustainability-driven initiatives.
Md Habibur Rahman, deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, and Hossain Sadat, president of ICSB, among others, were also present at the ceremony.
