BIMEA celebrates 36 years of legacy
The Bangladesh Ink Manufacturers' & Exporters' Association (BIMEA) celebrated its 36th anniversary at The Westin Dhaka recently, marking over three decades of contribution to Bangladesh's industrial and export growth.
Adilur Rahman Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Industries, inaugurated the celebration as the chief guest, according to a press release.
In his address, Khan lauded the ink industry as a "silent but vital force" behind Bangladesh's garments, packaging, and printing sectors.
He emphasised that "a strong domestic ink industry means a stronger, self-reliant manufacturing base for Bangladesh," and reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting innovation-driven and sustainable industries.
Md Anwar Hossain, secretary to the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the event as the special guest, while Md Shahriar, president of the Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA), joined as guest of honour.
Shahab Uddin Khan, president of BIMEA, expressed pride in the association's journey since 1989, saying, "This milestone reflects our unity and vision for a self-reliant ink industry. Local ink production has reduced import dependence, making it a true import-substitute sector that saves foreign currency and generates employment nationwide."
The event, themed "36 Years of Legacy," also honoured Kamal & Company and Danish Ink Industries with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their valuable contributions as the country's first sheetfed and web offset, and liquid ink manufacturers, respectively.
