Stamford University Bangladesh hosted the “Career Expo 2026” on its campus premises recently.

The daylong expo brought together more than 40 local, international and multinational companies, offering over 1,000 job and internship opportunities across various sectors, according to a press release.

Organised by the university’s Career Counseling and Placement Center, in collaboration with JCI Dhaka Diplomats, JCI Dhaka Heritage and JCI Dhaka Impact, the event was one of the university’s largest career-focused initiatives in recent years.

Prof Farahnaaz Feroz, chairman of the university’s board of trustees, and Prof Sharif Nafe As-Saber, vice-chancellor, jointly inaugurated the event.

Students crowded the recruitment booths set up across the campus, submitting CVs for available positions and internships. Many also spoke directly with human resources professionals and corporate representatives to learn about recruitment procedures, required skills, workplace expectations and potential career paths.

The event gave students an opportunity not only to apply for jobs but also to gain first-hand insights into the demands of the current employment market.

Alongside recruitment activities, the university arranged career development sessions on banking, entrepreneurship, information technology and leadership.

Shahriar Imran conducted the first session, titled “Career in Banking”, while Tashdik Habib led the session on “Entrepreneurship”.

Zafir Shafiee Chowdhury conducted the third session, titled “Career in IT”, while Md Altamis Nabil led the session on “Leadership Skills”.

Organisers said the initiative was designed to go beyond traditional recruitment by creating direct links between university students and the corporate sector.

They said the expo would help students understand industry expectations, develop professional networks, explore employment opportunities and identify the skills needed to compete in an increasingly competitive job market.

For many participating students, the event provided an important platform to take an early step towards their professional careers while gaining direct exposure to employers and industry professionals, the release added.

Representatives from more than 40 participating companies joined university officials, faculty members and students at the opening ceremony.
