Remittance crosses $3 billion mark for sixth consecutive month

Bangladesh received $3.42 billion in remittances in May this year as migrant workers and Bangladeshis living abroad sent more money home to help their families celebrate Eid-ul-Azha.

May's remittance inflow was 15.34 percent higher year-on-year, according to data from the Bangladesh Bank.

May was the sixth consecutive month in which remittance inflows crossed the $3 billion mark, boosting overall remittance inflows by 19 percent during the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025-26.

In the July-May period of the current fiscal year, migrant workers sent $32.75 billion in remittances, up from $27.5 billion in the same period a year earlier.
