A new record: foreign exchange reserves at $40 billion
Despite the impact of coronavirus pandemic on various sectors of the economy, the country's foreign exchange reserves have hit a new high -- over $40 billion.
The foreign exchange reserves, for the first time in the country's history, touched $40.10 billion today, a top official of Bangladesh Bank told The Daily Star.
At the same time last year, the reserves were $32.05 billion.
Bangladesh Bank officials said that the reserves are increasing due to low imports and increase in exports and remittances.
