Banks remain open in Dhaka city, industrial areas on limited scale
Banks remained open on a limited scale in the industrial areas, including Dhaka city, today to facilitate the payments of salaries, wages and festival allowances to garment workers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Branches of banks serving readymade garment industries in Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram are also open.
They will also provide services through the branches tomorrow and on April 21, according to a Bangladesh Bank's previous circular.
Clients will be able to do banking between 9:30 am and 1 pm on tomorrow and between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm on April 21.
After the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, banks will resume activities from April 24 and provide banking services from 10 am to 3.30 pm.
The largest religious festival for Muslims is likely to be celebrated in Bangladesh either on April 22 or April 23, depending on the sighting of the moon.
