EDOTCO Bangladesh has appointed Al Batuni Mohammad Sayed Ahmed as its new country managing director.

He succeeds Sunil Issac, under whose leadership EDOTCO Bangladesh expanded its market presence and strengthened its nationwide infrastructure footprint, the company said in a statement.

With the appointment, the telecom infrastructure company looks to strengthen local leadership and accelerate digital infrastructure growth in Bangladesh.

The appointment comes at a time when Bangladesh’s telecom sector is seeing growing demand for network expansion, infrastructure sharing and digital connectivity to support the country’s broader digital transformation.

Al Batuni brings more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications and digital services, with expertise in network transformation, digital modernisation and strategic business growth.

Before assuming the new role, he served EDOTCO Bangladesh as director of strategy and transformation, where he played a key role in driving operational excellence and long-term growth initiatives.

Prior to joining EDOTCO, Al Batuni spent nearly 17 years at Ericsson in senior leadership roles, focusing on network transformation and digital modernisation.

According to the company, EDOTCO Bangladesh currently manages nearly 17,000 telecom towers and supports more than 28,000 tenancies, making it one of the major players in Bangladesh’s telecom infrastructure sector.

EDOTCO Group Chief Executive Officer Adlan Tajudin said Bangladesh remains a key market for the company’s long-term growth strategy.

“Bangladesh remains one of EDOTCO Group’s most important markets and a key contributor to our long-term growth ambitions. Al Batuni’s deep understanding of the telecommunications ecosystem, transformation experience and strategic vision align well with EDOTCO Bangladesh’s next phase of growth as a trusted digital infrastructure partner through infrastructure sharing, innovation and sustainable growth.”

Al Batuni said he aims to build on the company’s existing foundation and further strengthen Bangladesh’s digital infrastructure ecosystem.

“I look forward to building on EDOTCO Bangladesh's strong foundation and working closely with all our stakeholders to strengthen the country's digital infrastructure ecosystem, accelerate inclusive connectivity, and contribute to Bangladesh's long-term economic and digital ambitions, creating sustainable value for the industry and the communities we serve.”
