Pension for all over 60 within one year: Finance Minister

A universal pension scheme for citizens of Bangladesh will be launched in six months-one year, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said today.

At a press conference, the minister said under the scheme, people aged between 18 and 50 will pay a fixed amount and will be able to withdraw monthly pension once they reach the age of 60.

They will enjoy the facility until they are 80, the minister said. 

If anyone pays Tk 1,000 monthly from the age of 18, the person will get Tk 64,000 pension monthly

On February 17, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned to set up a universal pension scheme for people aged over 60 and also for those who worked in the informal sector.
