Passenger dies after falling ill on Biman flight from Jeddah to Chattogram
A passenger died after falling ill aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Jeddah to Chattogram, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Muscat, Oman.
Airport officials said flight BG136 had taken off from Jeddah Airport for Chattogram when the passenger, identified as Sanowara Begum, around 55, from Chattogram, fell ill.
The flight was subsequently diverted to Muscat, where an airport doctor declared her dead after the aircraft landed, said Engineer Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport.
He said the process of sending the deceased passenger's body to Bangladesh through the embassy was under way.
Meanwhile, after the passenger was taken off the aircraft in Muscat, flight BG136 resumed its journey to Chattogram.
The flight landed at Shah Amanat International Airport at around 2:40pm today, he added.
Further details could be obtained from Biman Bangladesh Airlines authorities, airport officials said.
