How much can a 10-year-old boy take?

At first, he was grievously injured in a road accident and then he lost his parents and grandmother in another road crash when they were on their way to see him in a hospital.

The incident happened on Monday night.

Regaining consciousness last evening, the class-IV student from Comilla's Laksam was repeatedly looking for his parents at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He had not been told what happened to them. 

Jashim, elder son of Mohammad Razzaq and Jharna Begum of Laksam's Gondamara, was hit by a speedy motorcycle near Laksam bypass area around 8:00am.

The accident happened when the boy was returning to his home after saying Esha prayers at a nearby mosque.

He suffered severe injuries in his head and chest, said Mohammad Zahir, a neighbour who was accompanying the boy at the DMCH.

Locals found him unconscious and took him to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

On being informed, Razzaq, Jharna, their son Razu, Jharna's mother Joynab Nesa along with another neighbour, Isahak Mia, started rushing towards the hospital in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

A Noakhali-bound long-route bus, however, ran over the auto-rickshaw near Baral area in Comilla, leaving Razzaq, Jharna, Joynab and the auto-rickshaw driver, Bacchu Mia, dead on the spot, said Zahir.

Highway police seized the vehicles after the accident. It was not known whether the bus driver was caught.

As Jashim's condition was bad, he was shifted to the DMCH yesterday morning.

His younger brother Razu, who broke his left hand, was admitted to the hospital in Comilla while Isahak Mia, the injured neighbour, was also admitted to the DMCH.

Contacted, Bachhu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the incident.
