No military solution to Rohingya issue
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the Rohingya issue cannot be resolved militarily as it is a political problem.
She was talking to newly appointed Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mikael Hemniti Winther when he made a courtesy call on her at her office.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the Danish envoy highly appreciated Hasina's role in dealing with the Rohingya issue.
“It's [Rohingya issue] a political problem and it can't be resolved militarily,” Ihsanul quoted the PM as telling the ambassador.
The premier also reiterated her “zero tolerance policy” against terrorism.
She invited Danish entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh's agro processing and food processing industries, saying that some 100 special economic zones were being set up across the country to spur industrial growth.
Ambassador Winther said Denmark was proud of being a development partner of Bangladesh.
