Woman gang-raped in Sirajganj

A mother of three was confined to a house for three days and gang-raped in a village in Sirajganj's Ullapara, police said yesterday.

The housewife, 35, managed to escape and file a case with the local police station on Sunday. Later, the law enforcers arrested the key accused.

In the case, the victim, who was undergoing treatment at Sirajganj General Hospital, said one of her neighbours, Habibur Rahman, 45, tricked her into going to his house on Thursday. Later, Afil Hossain, 20, Faruk Hossain, 22, and Shakil Hossain, 21, all residents of the same village, appeared there and confined her wielding fire arms.

The four raped her multiple times. On Sunday night, the victim managed to flee the house and file the case, Md Tazul Huda, officer-in-charge of the police station said, quoting the victim.

The OC also said they arrested Habibur on Monday, but the other suspect went into hiding. "We are investigating the case," he added.
