M Shaheen Iqbal new Navy chief

The government yesterday appointed M Shaheen Iqbal chief of Bangladesh Navy after promoting him to the rank of vice admiral from rear admiral.

The Ministry of Defence has issued a gazette notification in this regard, saying he has been appointed for the next three years.

He will take up the position on July 25, it added.
