50 more die from Covid
At least 50 people were reported dead from Covid-19 and 2,856 others tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, officials said.
The death toll now stands at 2,801 and the death rate at 1.30 percent, said Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), during the daily briefing.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country is now 2,16,110.
Of the samples tested in the 24 hours preceding yesterday afternoon, 20.03 percent tested positive, according to the DGHS.
Bangladesh is currently the 16th country in terms of the number of confirmed cases.
The position is one step ahead of Germany and one step behind Colombia, according to worldometer.info.
A total of 12,398 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours, Prof Nasima said.
Meanwhile, 2,006 patients recovered, taking the total recoveries to 1,19,208. The rate of recovery is 55.16 percent.
Six hundred and ninety-seven people were put in isolation in the 24 hours.
Of those reported dead yesterday, 41 were male and nine female. Three of them were aged between 31 and 40, seven of them 41 and 50, twelve of them 51 and 60, sixteen of them 61 and 70, eight of them 71 and 80 and four of them 81and 90, Dr Nasima also said.
Of them, 20 were from Dhaka, five from Chattagram, seven from Khulna, six from Rajshahi, one from Sylhet, seven from Rangpur and four from Barishal divisions.
