3 die after showing Covid-19 symptoms

At least three people have died with Covid-19 symptoms in three districts since Tuesday noon.

In Noakhali, a 47-year-old businessman died with Covid-19 symptoms at his residence in Gonipur area of Chowmuhoni municipality yesterday morning.

The victim had been suffering from fever, cough and cold for the last couple of days. He came to the upazila health complex on Tuesday for treatment.

On-duty doctors there gave him primary treatment, collected his sample for Covid-19 test and sent him back to his house.

He died around 8:30am yesterday, said Ashim Kumar Das, upazila health and family planning officer in Begumganj.

Mahbub Alam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Begumganj, said the victim's house has been locked down and family members have been asked to stay on isolation.

In Narayanganj, an 85-year-old woman died with Covid-19 symptoms at the 300-bed government hospital in the district on Tuesday night.

The dead, a resident of Fatullah area in Sadar upazila, had been suffering from fever, cold and respiratory issues for the last few days.

She was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon but her physical condition kept deteriorating. She died around 8:30pm, said Zahidul Islam, spokesperson of the district's Covid-19 prevention committee.

Samples were collected from the victim's body for testing Covid-19, he added.

In Mymensingh, a 45-year-old van-puller died with Covid-19 symptoms at SK Hospital in the town on Tuesday.

The dead, who hailed from Kalibajail village in the district's Phulbaria upazila, had been suffering from respiratory problems for long.

On Monday night, he was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). Later, he was shifted to the isolation ward at SK Hospital where he died on Tuesday noon, said Zakiul Islam, assistant director of MMCH.

The victim's sample was collected for Covid-19 tests, he added.
