260 agri ministry employees infected

A total of 260 employees of the agriculture ministry and its subordinate offices have been infected with Covid-19 and five of them have died, a PID handout said yesterday.

As many as 116 staffers have been undergoing treatment and kept in isolation at different hospitals while 139 have recovered till date.

The handout said the ministry officials have been working relentlessly, keeping in mind the prime minister's directive about not leaving out an inch of land without farming.

Besides, Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque earlier asked employees of the ministry and its subordinate offices to work like a frontline worker.

He told them to work relentlessly maintaining health guidelines to tackle novel coronavirus, Amphan and flood situation.

ALL OF A BANK BRANCH INFECTED

All seven employees of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank's (RAKUB) Jadurani Haat Branch in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon have been infected with Covid-19.

The test results of 15 people, including the bank employees, came out positive on Sunday evening, said Thakurgaon Civil Surgeon Md Mahfuzar Rahman.

The bank branch was placed under lockdown following the death of its manager from novel coronavirus on July 23.

With the latest cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in the district has reached 335.
