Distorting PM's Photo: 3 JCD men held
Three activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal were handed over to the police in Kalapara upazila yesterday for their alleged involvement in posting distorted photo of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on a Facebook page yesterday.
They are Samrat, 21, Abdur Rahim, 20, and Enamul, 20, activists of Mohipur thana unit JCD, pro-BNP student body.
SM Maksudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mohipur Police Station, said locals handed over the youths to police, and a case was filed against them under the ICT Act.
The three youths were involved in JCD politics, he said, adding that police would take legal action against them after investigating the matter.
However, Mizanur Rahman Piyada, president of Mohipur thana unit JCD, claimed that the arrestees were not activists of JCD.
Over the matter, activists of Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League attacked Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Sangsad at Mohipur Bazar around 12:00 noon and vandalised furniture, said Mizanur.
The JCD leader alleged that the activists of the two ruling Awami League organisations also assaulted him and two other JCD men during the attack.
Jamal Hossain, joint convener of Swechchhasebak League of Mohipur thana unit, said agitated people handed over the three youths to the police as they had distorted image of the prime minister on a Facebook page.
He denied the allegation of attacking Koko memorial sangsad.
