4 more held over attack in Nasirnagar

Police yesterday arrested four more people in a case filed in connection with the October 30 attack on Hindus houses and temples in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar.       

With this, police have arrested 89 people in seven cases lodged for attacking Hindu houses and temples at different times since October 30.

Yesterday's arrestees are Sayed Mahbub Hasan, 33, and Hira Mollah, 33, of Haripur village, Sujon Pathan, 26, of Shangkardaho village, and Mohsin Khan, 23, of Nurpur village.

Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of Brahmanbaria police, said the arrestees were produced before the court that sent the arrestees to jail.

On 30 October, a group of religious zealots carried out a synchronised attack on Hindu houses in Nasirnagar upazila, vandalised around 100 homes and looted valuables from at least 17 temples over a Facebook post purportedly from the account of Rasraj Das, a local fisherman, “hurting Muslims' sentiment".
