Today marks the death anniversary of prolific filmmaker Sir David Lean CBE. Known for his epic masterpieces, the editor, producer, director and scriptwriter has ruled the English film industry for over five decades, starting from 1942.

On behalf of the event management company One More Zero Communications and television channel Gaan Bangla, Farzana Munny and Kaushik Hossain Taposh donated BDT 50 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund yesterday, at the PM office. Renowned artist Anisuzzaman Anis is a professor at the Department of Printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. A graduate from DU, he studied construction and structural designs. For higher studies, he went to Rabindra Bharati University, India, and Tama Art University, Japan.

The indigenous communities celebrate the beginning of the New Year with different programmes, collectively known as the Boisabi festival.
