The Embassy of Japan and Japan Foundation, in cooperation with Bangladesh National Museum, organised ‘Japanese Film Festival 2021’ on March 5 and 6 at the Bangladesh National Museum for the first time in two years.

Alternative rock band Shunno and heavy metal band Cryptic Fate who performed in Joy Bangla Concert in previous years are paying tribute to the event online since the concert is put to a halt this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Mujib Amar Pita” (Mujib My Father) is the first feature-length animated film, made in Bangladesh. Under the Game and App project of the ICT Ministry, with support from BMIT Solution, the film was made by Prolancer Studio. The 2D animated film was made on the occasion of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary. It is expected to be released later this year.

An exhibition, titled, “Masters & Prodigies” featuring the works of 34 eminent artists from India, is currently underway at Galleri Kaya, Uttara. Inaugurated on February 28, it focuses on contemporary graphic art and printmaking.

Singer Jan-E-Alam breathed his last today while being treated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. He was 65.

Noted singer Jane Alam passed away today (March 2) at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital around 10 pm. The 65 year old was under treatment at the facility.

Jaya Ahsan’s new film “Alatchakra” will be released on March 19. The film is produced by Rahima Begum, and directed by Habibur Rahman. The production is based on Ahmed Sofa’s novel of the same name, and casts Ahmed Reza Rubel opposite her in lead.
