Salahuddin Ahmed's solo album Chittogeet unveiled
Noted Nazrul Singer Salahuddin Ahmed's ninth solo album “Chittogeet” was launched on May 10 at Café Thirty Three, Baily Road in the capital. Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Emeritus Professor and chairman of Nazrul Institute Trustee Board, unveiled the album as chief guest.
Ikram Ahmed, executive director of Nazrul Institute and Khilkhil Kazi, granddaughter of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and a member of Nazrul Institute Trustee Board, attended the event as special guests. Poet Rezauddin Stalin, director of Nazrul Institute emceed the ceremony.
Salahuddin Ahmed has recorded Nazrul's kavyageeti, raga-based melodies, love songs, ghazal, kajri, shyama sangeet and more for the album. The album features ghazals -- “Ashlo Jokhon Phuler Phagun” and “Eki Sur-e Tumi Gaan Shonaley”; kavyageeti “Bhul Korey Jadi Bhalobeshey Thaki” and “Phul Phaguner Elo Morshum”; a kajri “Sakhi Badhlo Jhulonia”; a lesser known shyama sangeet “Dekhe Jarey Roop Rani Ma” and raga-based classics including “Oi Ghar Bholano Sur-e”.
Following the launch of the album, the artiste performed Nazrul Sangeet from the album and on request from audience.
