MAWW's Classical music conference opens today
Music Alliance World Wide (MAWW) is going to organise its 6th Classical Music Conference today (December 23). The first day of this festival is going to present “Of Roots and Melody: Stories and Sarod by Ustaad Aashish Khan at Chhayanaut Sangeet Bidyaytan Auditorium at 6pm. Classical music lovers can enjoy the event by free registration at the venue.
Ustaad Shahadat Hossain Khan and Ustaad Yusuf Ali Khan will also play Sarod and tabla at the event.
The central attraction of this musical event is Ustad Ashish Khan, a sarod maestro of Maihar Gharana. Coming from a family of notable musicians in the realm of Indian classical music, Aashish Khan is the grandson of Ustad Allauddin Khan and son of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
The second day of the conference will be held at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi at 4pm on December 27. With the theme “Young Fiesta of Indian Classical Music Series-5: Dhun of Victory”, the event will feature various talented musicians from both Bangladesh and India.
The second day's musical proceedings will feature duet performance of sitar and sarod by Afsana and Rukhsana Khan (Bangladesh); tabla performances by Zakir Hossain (Bangladesh), Sanjib Majumder, Ratan Das (Bangladesh), Surajit Mukherjee (India) and Sourabh Goho (India); flute performance Murtaza Kabir Murad (Bangladesh); santoor recital by Dishari Chakraborty (India); Pakhawaj performance by Nishaant Singh (India); sitar recital by Ebadul Huq Shaikat (Bangladesh) and Sarod performance by Shiraz Ali Khan.
MAWW is a non-profit, voluntary organisation dedicated towards promoting world music of traditional and classical genre.
The conference is being held with support from The Daily Asian Age (title partner), Union Group, and Alliance Francaise de Dhaka, while Verb communication remains the event partner.
