BNSS' Tribute to Nazrul

Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha (BNSS) arranged a musical programme on June 5 to pay homage to our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on his 117th birth anniversary. The venue was the Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library.

President and general secretary of BNSS, Khalid Hossain and Khairul Anam Shakil delivered the welcome addresses at the programme. A number of promising and renowned artistes of the organisation performed an array of Nazrul Sangeet on the day. Artistes of BNSS set off the musical soiree with the choral song “Dao Shourjo Dao Dhoirjo”.

Dipu Samadder performed a solo, “Abar Bhalobashar Sadh Jagey” while Nahian Durdana Suchi presented the number “Shoi Bhalo Korey Binod Beni”. Talented artiste Mridula Samadder also gave a fine rendition of the song “Joy Brohmo Vidya Shiv Saraswati”. Another promising singer Mohit Khan rendered the song “Chaitali Chandni Raat-e”

Noted elocutionist Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay read out Nazrul's “Hindu-Musolman” at the event. Elocutionist Rupa Chakrabarty also recited a Nazrul poem on the occasion. Choreographed by Sharmila Banerjee and Samina Hossain Prema, artistes of Nritya Nandan and Bhabna presented two dance pieces.

Noted  Nazrul Sangeet artistes -- Khalid Hossain and Salahuddin Ahmed performed solos -- “Keberi Nodi Jol-e” and “Shawon Ashilo Phirey” respectively.

Among others, noted singers Yakub Ali Khan, Khairul Anam Shakil, Sumon Majumdar, Sharmin Sathi Islam, Joseph Kamol Rodriguez and Khilkhil Kazi rendered solo songs at the programme.
