“The Legend Syed Abdul Hadi” launched at Dhaka Club
It was a stimulating gathering of singers, lyricists, composers, filmmakers and other creative minds at Samson H. Chowdhury Hall of Dhaka Club on August 10. Music label Bangla Dhol had brought a compilation of four CDs, featuring 46 songs recorded by renowned singer Syed Abdul Hadi. An inspiring documentary on the life and works of Hadi was also launched at the programme. Sadat Hossain was the director of the documentary.
Syed Abdul Hadi expressed his gratitude to Bangla Dhol for producing the albums and the documentary.
The albums contain songs of three categories --patriotic, film-songs and adhunik. The patriotic songs include “Surjodoy-e Tumi”, “Ei Mati Amar Ma”, “Je Matir Buk-e”, “Bangladesh-er Chhobi E(n)ke Dio” and “Shadhinatar E Gaan” while the film tracks are “Chokkher Nojor”, “Emonoto Prem Hoy”, “Jeona Sathi”, “Sokhi Cholona” and “Keu Konodin Amarey Tho”. The albums also feature some adhunik numbers like “Koto Ka(n)dlam”, “Bhalobeshe Rakhte Paroni”, “Amar Prothom Prem”, “Ogo Nazrul” and “Bhalobasha Emoni Ek Nodi”.
Noted personalities attending the event included music composers -- Ali Hossain, Alam Khan, Alauddin Ali and Sheikh Sadi Khan; singers --Sabina Yasmin, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Shammi Akhtar, Abida Sultana, Rafiqul Alam, Fatema-Tuz-Zohra and Asif Akbar; filmmaker Amzad Hossain; lyricist Moniruzzaman Monir and artist Hashem Khan.
“I have recorded many songs with Hadi bhai. He is an evergreen artiste in terms of his melodious voice and experience. We are greatly inspired by the initiative,” said Sabina Yasmin.
“Hadi Bhai once said that music is an art form to learn thoroughly. I would like to urge the new generation of artistes to continue music practice with attention to meticulous lessons. Hadi Bhai is a lucky singer whose songs will remain timeless,” said Alauddin Ali.
