Dilip Kumar in hospital
Film lovers in India are keeping close tabs on 93-year-old legendary actor Dilip Kumar ever since he was hospitalised at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The thespian was admitted to hospital after he complained of respiratory problems. Doctors were also concerned about his high fever, pneumonia and infection.
The film world has rallied behind the actor. Social media are trending a new image of the star. The photograph shows Kumar resting in bed as his wife Saira Banu looks into the camera with concern for her husband clearly written on her face.
Amitabh Bachchan' tweeted “Spoke to Saira ji on sms .. Dilip saheb is doing well .. and we all pray for his speedy recovery ..”
An update by Saira Banu on Kumar's Twitter account says that the actor is recovering well and will be discharged soon.
Called the 'tragedy king of Bollywood' for his many roles as a doomed lover, Kumar featured in Kranti, Shakti, Karma and Saudagar. His last film was Qila in 1998. Kumar was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 2015. Earlier, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
