Deepika, Ranveer begin shooting for Padamvati

Sanjay Leela Bhasali's magum opus “Padmavati” has started. The period drama stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role of Rajput queen Padmavati and features Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh is essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi sultan, who falls in love with Padmavati.

Shobha Sant, the CEO of Bhansali productions made it official, tweeting her excitement about it. A picture of the clap board from the set of the movie was circulating online. Sudeep Chatterjee is the director of photography for the movie.

While Ranveer and Deepika have worked with Sanjay before in “Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela” and “Bajirao Mastani”, it is the first time that Shahid will be directed by the filmmaker.
