After Ibn Sina doctor, his 17-year-old niece dies of Covid-19

Three days into the death of Dr Abul Mokarim Md Mohsin Uddin with Covid-19 infection, his niece who used to live with the family in Dhaka's Dhanmondi, lost the battle with the virus last evening.

Shaira Afia (17), who tested Covid-19 positive more than a week ago, was staying at home as she had mild fever and dry cough.

Her condition suddenly deteriorated and she breathed her last around 6:30pm, Dr Mokarim's daughter-in-law Madiha Ali said.

Afia was diabetic, she said adding that she had been staying with the family for long.

Apart from the deceased, Dr Mokarim's mother-in-law, wife, elder son, his wife also tested Covid-19 positive.

Madiha urged all to remain aware and follow safety guidelines.

On Tuesday night Dr Mokarim, chief consultant (radiology) of Ibn Sina Diagnostic and Imaging Centre, died at Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka.
