7 UP chairmen, 3 members suspended for relief embezzlement
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry has suspended seven Union Parishad (UP) chairmen and three members for irregularities in distribution of relief among poor, during the ongoing shutdown.
Separate notifications were issued in this regard by the ministry today.
With them, a total of 35 local representatives have so far been suspended and among them 15 are UP chairmen, 19 are members and one is Zila Parishad member, notifications said.
The suspended chairmen are: Md Nur-e-Alam Bepariof Kedarpur union parishad in Babuganj upazila of Barishal, Md Mizanur Rahman Khan of Razapur UP in Bhola Sadar upazila, Md Manir Rahman Mridha of Kamlapur UP in Patuakhali Sadar upazila, Shah Alam Shafi Ansari of Rahanpur UP in Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj, Md Siddiqur Rahman Mandal of Joshai UP in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari, Zarjis Mollah of Peroli UP in Kalia upazila of Narailand Alauddin Chowdhury of Joynagar UP of the same upazila.
The suspended UP members are: MdRafiqul Islam of Ward No 8 of Gaokandi UP under Durgapur upazila in Netrakona, Md Modiuddin Sohel of Ward No 2 of Galachipa UP under Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali and Lipi Begum, female member of reserved seat of Keshabpur UP under the same upazila.
In the notifications, the ministry mentioned that they have been suspended for various reasons including embezzlement of relief and VGF programme's rice.
