7 Rohingyas detained while being trafficked to India
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained seven Rohingyas while they were being trafficked to India through Putkhali frontier of Jashore's Benapole yesterday.
None of the traffickers were arrested in this connection, said BGB 21 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Manjur E Elahi.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of the paramilitary force raided the area and detained seven Rohingyas, including women and children, he said.
The Rohingyas are Md Abdul Hali, 35, Md Kawsar Ali, 22, Khusi Begum, 21, Syedul Kawsar, 20, Konaisa Bibi, 20, Md Salman, 8, Diljan Khatun, 16.
The detainees are from the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar, the BGB official said.
They were handed over to police and a case has been filed with Benapole Police Station against them.
