60-year-old arrested in case filed over raping fifth grader in Gaibandha
Police have arrested a 60-year-old man in a case filed over the rape of a fifth grader in Gaibandha's Sadar upazila.
Abdus Sattar was sent to jail by a district court today, Khan Mohammad Shahriar, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station told our local correspondent.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The man took the 10-year-old girl to his house yesterday noon after picking her up from the roadside and then raped her, according to a maternal uncle of the victim.
Relatives rescued the girl and caught the man red-handed, the victim's uncle said.
They immediately informed the police and the victims' uncle filed a case with the police station yesterday evening, the OC said.
The child is now undergoing treatment at Sadar Upazila Heath complex in Gaibandha, said the OC.
