689 stranded Bangladeshis return from India, Malaysia and Singapore
A total of 689 Bangladeshi citizens stranded in India, Malaysia and Singapore returned home by four separate special flights today.
A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Bengaluru of India carrying 144 Bangladeshi citizens landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 6:40pm, said Tahera Khandaker, deputy general manager (public relations) of the national flag carrier.
Besides, 160 Bangladeshis, who were stranded in Malaysia, returned home on a special flight of Malindo Air which landed at HSIA this afternoon, said an official of Aviation Security at HSIA.
Earlier, a special flight of Singapore Airlines carrying 216 Bangladeshis from Singapore landed at the Dhaka airport at 2:19pm, said a duty supervisor officer at the HSIA.
Also, a special flight of US-Bangla Airlines landed at HSIA at 3:00pm with 169 Bangladeshis from Chennai of India, he added.
As per government decision, all returnee Bangladeshis are scheduled to remain in 14-day institutional quarantine if they fail to show medical certificate -- confirming that they tested negative for Covid-19 -- at the airport on arrival.
