67 cadets pass out of BMA
Of them, 58 cadets, including 5 lady cadets, were from 54th BMA Long Course and 9 cadets, including 2 lady cadets, belong to the 25th BMA Special Course.
To mark the occasion, the President's Parade was held at the parade ground. The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Moeen U Ahmed reviewed the smartly turned-out parade and took salute as chief guest. He also distributed prizes among the cadets who demonstrated excellent performance during the training.
Battalion Senior Under Officer (BSUO) BM Selim Reja Shafiq was adjudged the best all round cadet in the 54th BMA Long Course and was awarded the coveted "Sword of Honour". Company Senior Under Officer (CSUO) Abu Sayeed Nizam received the "Chief of Army Staff's (CAS) Gold Medal" for his outstanding performance in military subjects. Meanwhile, 'Rouf Company' received the BMA Colour for the Summer Term on the basis of different inter-company competitions. The cadets formally took oath and were adorned with the rank badges by their respective parents and guardians. Adjutant of the Academy Major S M Asadul Haque commanded the spectacular parade.
In his address to the officer-designates the Chief of the Army Staff said, "You will always have to be ready and vigilant to shoulder the sacred responsibility of safeguarding the independence, sovereignty and security of the country even at the cost of the last drop of our blood".
The Army Chief also called upon the young officers to work shoulder to shoulder with the people to protect the independence and sovereignty of the motherland and serve the nation. Chief of Army Staff congratulated the women officers of the 8th batch and urged them, "To prove the competence and performance in professional life by hard work and that the contributions of the women officers in Bangladesh Army are no less important".
Among others, high civil and military officials, diplomats of foreign missions in Dhaka and guardians of the cadets witnessed the joyous and gratifying ceremony.
Earlier, Chittagong Area Commander of Bangladesh Army and General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General Sina Ibn Jamali and Commandant of the Academy Brigadier General Mohammad Shamim Chowdhury received the chief guest on his arrival at the BMA Parade Ground.
