200 win Zainul-Quamrul int'l art competition

A total of 4,000 children aged between three and 16 from 30 countries took part in the competition. Prizes were distributed among 200 winners. Of them, four children were awarded gold medals, 40 silver medals and another 40 bronze medals while 116 others received certificates.

Bangladeshi children bagged a total of 98 prizes, including two gold medals.

Humayra Tasnim of Dhaka, Rafiqul Islam of Narsingdi, Egecan Yazici of Turkey and Kashkurevich Vitavtas of Belarus won the gold medals in different age categories.

Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka gave away the prizes to the winners. Japanese Ambassador Masayuki Inoue, Turkish Ambassador Ferit Ergin and Deputy Managing Director of GrameenPhone Frank Fodstad were present on the occasion.

The Turkish ambassador received the award on behalf of Yazici.

Ganderia Kisholaya Kachi-Kanchar Mela organised the international painting competition.

Director of Kachi-Kanchar Mela Md Shafiur Rahman Dulu presided over the ceremony.

Promising to set up an art gallery at Gandaria, Mayor Khoka said the children need more opportunities and support to develop their talents.
