Health Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain hands over a cheque for Tk 5 crore to Chief Executive of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Kazi Rafiqul Alam at the conference room of the ministry on Thursday for Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital (AMCH)
Health and Family Welfare Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain handed over a cheque for Tk 5 crore to Chief Executive of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Kazi Rafiqul Alam on Thursday in medical equipment support for Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital (AMCH), says a press release.

The ministry has allocated a total of Tk 15 crore from its Improved Hospital Services Management Project under the Health Nutrition and Population Sector Programme (HNPSP) for the hospital and Tk 5 crore was given as first instalment of the allocation.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister hoped that the AMCH would emerge as a centre of excellence for cancer treatment in this region.

"We are giving priority to the specialised treatment sector," he said, adding that beds in the public sector cancer institutes and hospitals are now being raised to 300 from 50.

The government is also providing increased grants to private sector specialised hospitals such as Birdem and Heart Foundation Hospital, said the minister.
