Schoolboy electrocuted

The victim was identified as Zahid Hassan, 14, son of Pahelee Sikdar of Ghandhabba Para village.

Witnesses and family sources said Zahid, a student of class eight of a local high school, and Mohammad Shawdheen, 10, a student of class four of a local primary school, were electrocuted while they were trying to hoist a flag of their favourite team tying it on top of a green bamboo at around 1:00pm. At one stage, the bamboo came into contact with an electric wire, leaving the two seriously injured.

Locals rushed them to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital in critical condition where the on-duty doctors declared Zahid dead.
