Three killed in road accidents

BDNEWS from Chittagong adds: One trader was killed in a road accident at Dewanhat under Chandanaish upazila of the district yesterday.

The accident occurred at 8:30am when a speeding bus hit Amarjeet,40, who was waiting at Dewanhat for a transport to go to his shop at Satkania.

Amarjeet died on the spot.

Our Correspondent from Kishoreganj adds: A man was killed in a road accident on Kishoreganj-Karimganj highway at Jafrabad area of Karimganj upazila under the district on Sunday night.

The dead was identified as Madon Borman, 38, of Nayakandi village of Karimganj upazila.

Police said the accident occurred when a Kishoreganj-bound microbus collided head-on with a Karimganj-bound auto-rickshaw leaving Madon Borman, an auto-rickshaw passenger, injured critically. Madon succumbed to his injuries on the way to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, locals said.

Both the drivers are absconding with their vehicles, police said.

Meanwhile, Another person was killed on the Dhaka-Kisohreganj highway at Pirojpur area of Bajitpur upazila yesterday.

The dead was identified as Renu Mia, 35, of Pirojpur village of Bajitpur upazila.

Police said a Kishoreganj-bound bus from Dhaka ran over Renu while he was crossing the road.

Highway police arrested Manju Mia, driver of the bus.
