Venezuela lauds success in women edn, micro-credit

Ambassador Rafiq Ahmed Khan presented his credentials to Venezuelan Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel at a ceremony recently.

Khan, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada, is concurrently accredited to Argentina, Cuba, Jamaica and Venezuela, said a foreign ministry press release in the city yesterday.

After presenting his credentials, Ambassador Khan also conveyed greetings of the President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the Venezuelan President and the Vice-President.

Khan highlighted the achievements of present government in the areas of micro-credit management, rural development, food production, women empowerment, girls' education, population control and the country's role in the UN and other international forums as well as the contribution to the UN peacekeeping efforts.

The Venezuelan Vice-President thanked Bangladesh for its support and cooperation to his government on various issues in the international forums.

He also appreciated the success of Bangladesh in the fields of women education, agriculture and micro-credit management and expressed his government's desire to maintain closer mutual cooperation with Dhaka in the coming days.
